What is CMC sodium carboxymethylcellulose?
CMC is a kind of important cellulose ether and a good water-soluble polyanionic compound obtained from chemically modified natural fibers, soluble in cold water. It has unusual and extremely valuable comprehensive physical and chemical properties such as emulsifiablity, dispersion, solid dispersion, non-perishability, physiological harmlessness, etc., and is a kind of widely-used natural polymer derivatives.
The superior properties of Na CMC include: thickening, water retention, metabolism inert, film formability, dispersion stability, etc. It can be used as thickeners, water retention agents, binders, lubricants, emulsifiers, assistant deflocculants, tablet substrate, biological substrates and carriers of biological products.
Detergent grades are mainly used in powder and cream type for detergent production. It prevents re-sticking of the dirt which will be removed by detergent during the cleaning rinsing process.
The different types of detergent grades of CMC are produced in the limits of detergent grade specifications but they will be divided into different variations due to customer demands. The customer satisfaction, price sensitivity and other expectations are fully covered by these variations.
DT is the standard quality for powder detergent grade CMC. DTE is a preferred quality where the market is price-sensitive. DTH is especially an improved quality for high volume capacity plants which are using an automatic dosing system.
For the cream type of detergents, there are two qualities which have different viscosity values. The EW, can also be used in various industries where the water absorption is highly needed. Especially in hot climates EW can be used as a viscosifier agent or additive to prevent quick drying.
The standard qualities with their chemical specifications are shown on table below. The below mentioned specifications can be changed according to customer demands or requests.
